Sykes to lay off more workers

A second round of layoffs is coming for Sykes Enterprises Inc. in Wilton, but the company is mum on the number of affected employees.

An undetermined number of workers at the telemarketing center will lose their jobs Tuesday, leaving 30 workers at the facility, according to the Sun Journal. Andrea Burnett, a spokeswoman for Tampa-based Sykes, said the company is happy with its Wilton facility and is working to adapt to its clients' needs. In May, the company laid off a larger number of workers, but did not specify how many.

The Wilton call center, located in the former G.H. Bass corporate offices, was opened in 1999 by ICT Group to serve insurance and financial clients. Sykes merged with Pennsylvania-based ICT in 2010, according to the paper.
