TD Bank has named Don Baker as its next commercial market president of northern New England.
Baker takes over responsibilities of Larry Wold, who was TD Bank's Maine market president. Wold retired at the end of 2023.
In the newly expanded role, Baker will lead the commercial and small business banking teams in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. He will maintain offices in all three states.
"I look forward to growing our customer and community relationships across northern New England," Baker said.
Baker has more than 30 years of banking experience. He most recently served as TD's commercial market president for Vermont, where he was responsible for the growth and expansion of commercial and small business lending and deposits in the state.
Prior to assuming this role, Baker served in the middle market and commercial leadership roles, including the Vermont market president and team leader middle market at KeyBank.
Beyond his work with TD, Baker sits on the Lake Champlain Opportunity Fund board and is a member of the Vermont Business Roundtable. He is a former Lake Champlain Chamber board member and a member of the Vermont Bankers Association and the Greater Burlington Multicultural Resource Center.
Baker received his bachelor's degree from Colby College in Waterville and his MBA from Saint Michael's College in Colchester, Vt.
“Don is a well-respected and deeply experienced banking professional throughout the northern New England business community," said Sheryl McQuade, regional president of New England. “I'm very confident Don's leadership will drive optimal collaboration and partnership across our entire team as we continue to enrich the lives of our customers, colleagues and communities across New England."
TD Bank has 39 Maine offices. It was ranked No. 1 among the banks with the largest market share across the state in the 2024 Mainebiz Book of Lists, based on Maine deposits of $5.7 billion as of June 30, 2023.
TD Bank is also one of the largest banks in the U.S., providing over 9.8 million customers with retail, small business and commercial banking products and services at more than 1,100 locations in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and parts of the South.
