The TD Charitable Foundation, TD Bank’s charitable arm, has awarded a $5,000 grant to Easterseals to support care coordination and emergency assistance to veterans in Maine.
Easterseals Military and Veterans Services works to meet the emergency needs of veterans facing hardships, often a direct result of their military service, by combining emergency financial assistance for immediate crises with longer-term, individualized care coordination services.
“We are extremely thankful for the generous support from TD Charitable Foundation and for their partnership in joining us in the important work of giving our service members and their families that hand up that they need to stabilize the situation and work toward self-sufficiency,” said Joseph Reagan, development director for Easterseals Maine, in a news release.
“Support from the community is critical to help ensure our veterans do not have to struggle after sacrificing so much for our country,” he added, noting that the grant will have a “tremendous impact” for military families across Maine.
Steve Webb, TD market president, said in the news release that “at TD, we celebrate the dedication of all military personnel for their bravery and commitment to their country, so we are honored to partner with Easterseals in providing them support.”
Since the TD Charitable Foundation was founded in 2002, it has distributed more than $199 million and more than 19,400 grants through donations to local nonprofits from Maine to Florida.
Veterans make up about 10% of Maine’s population, with half of them age 65 and older.
