Technology-to-mill-town trend continues

The trend toward revitalization of Maine’s traditional mill towns has received big boosts lately, as technology firms find their way to these historic areas, arrivals that tie in with city and community organization goals for economic development.

Guideline Technologies is the latest, with plans to bring 12 jobs to downtown Lewiston, the Sun Journal reported.

The seven-month-old, California-based company provides retirement planning and small business 401(k) services, and is leasing space at 223 Lisbon St.

Chief technology officer Mike Nelson told the paper the company decided to settle in Lewiston because he grew up in neighboring Auburn.
