Thibeault Energy assets auctioned off

The vehicular assets of Thibeault Energy, a Brunswick-based oil company that closed abruptly in January, are scheduled to be auctioned off today.

The 11 a.m. auction was set to liquidate a total of 36 items, including eight fuel delivery trucks, six tractor-trailer trucks and other vehicles, according to The Times Record. Massachusetts-based Joseph Finn Co. Inc. is handling the auction. Neither the company nor its president, Vivian Thibeault, has filed for bankruptcy protection, according to the paper.

Customers in January complained that Thibeault Energy was not honoring pre-paid contracts, and the company said it was working to secure capital. However, it then closed Jan. 22 after 84 years in business. It's unclear if the money from the auction will be used to repay customers.
