Trailer maker expected to leave Winslow mill

Paul LePage, Waterville's mayor and the former owner of the Kimberly-Clark Corp. paper mill in Winslow, told the Morning Sentinel that tenant SNOPRO, a transport-trailer manufacturer, was selling its assets and would be leaving the premises.

LePage said the news came from SNOPRO owner Bill Cleaves, who declined comment to the newspaper. LePage said SNOPRO leased 66,000 square feet of space spread across three buildings at the mill.

In 2003, SNOPRO, then known as C&C Distributors, had $15 million in sales and 125 employees in Winslow. Thule Inc., a company known worldwide for its bicycle racks and other carrier equipment, bought 80% of the business in 2004 and renamed it Thule Trailers Inc. Cleaves bought back the company in 2007, renaming it SNOPRO and employing 75.
