TransCanada gets 20-year tax break

Franklin County commissioners this morning unanimously approved a 20-year tax break for TransCanada's Kibby Mountain Wind Project, according to MaineToday.com.

The tax break will return $9 million in property taxes to TransCanada and $4 million to Franklin County over the next 20 years for use in economic development efforts in its unorganized territories, according to the website.

Public comment at a public hearing last week was overwhelmingly opposed to the tax break, but commissioners said comments have continued to stream in and appear to now favor the tax break, the website reported.
