Trucking company to close, lay off 100

A trucking company in Bangor is closing, leaving more than 100 people jobless.

Carlen Transport, which provides trucking services throughout 48 states, is planning to close because of the economy, and has ordered its 105 company-owned trucks back to the terminal, a spokeswoman told news channel WABI 5. Its service center will stay open, and some administrative staff members will remain to help with the closing, according to the news channel.

Carlen was founded in 1986 by Lenny and Carol Peters, and has a 7-acre product loading yard off I-395 in Bangor and an office in Keasbey, N.J., according to the company's website. It offers freight transfer from mills to its loading yard in Bangor and has 127 employees.
