Annie Tselikis, who has served the past two years as marketing manager of York-based live lobster wholesaler Maine Coast, left that post on Tuesday to take on a full-time role as executive director of the Maine Lobster Dealers Association.
During her tenure at Maine Coast she had worked part time as executive director of MLDA, the trade association that supports live lobster wholesalers and lobster processors, of which Maine Coast is a member.
MLDA members recently decided to expand the services of the organization and approved increasing the executive director’s position to full time.
“The Maine lobster industry is operating in an increasingly complex global environment and is facing issues and potential opportunities on many fronts,” said MLDA Vice President Tom Flanigan of Seaview Lobster in Kittery..
Flanigan said Tselikis “will bring the experience and skill set necessary to communicate and advocate on the industry’s behalf and keep MLDA members informed and engaged on a variety of complex issues.”
Tom Adams, Maine Coast’s founder and CEO, said his team was sorry to see Tselikis go but was supportive of her move to the full-time position at MLDA.
“She has been a great asset for our company, but she is uniquely suited to support all of the lobster businesses and work for the collective benefit of the entire lobster industry,” he said in a news release.
Sheila Adams, his wife, who recently joined Maine Coast as vice president of sales and marketing, will oversee the company’s marketing activities follow Tselikis’s departure.
Maine Lobster Dealers Association was founded in 1985 to create a forum for lobster wholesalers and processors to discuss important issues facing the industry. In 2014, MLDA reorganized, strengthening membership and strategy efforts and hired Annie Tselikis, part time, as its first executive director. The organization’s members represent the leaders and innovators of Maine’s lobster business sector. MLDA, according to its website, “seeks proactive, positive solutions to the lobster industry’s challenges and opportunities to promote a biologically and economically sustainable future.”
