Upcoming bridge work will affect highway traffic through Yarmouth 

Maine Department of Transportation A $27.6 million replacement of two bridges carrying I-295 traffic is construction near Exit 17 in Yarmouth.

Construction to replace two bridges that carry I-295 traffic over U.S. Route 1 near Exit 17 will hit a fever pitch in coming days.

Crews will be placing huge steel bridge beams onto the concrete substructure that’s been under construction in recent months.

Night construction work will affect traffic flow on Route 1 starting Sunday, Nov. 6, and continue through Friday, Nov. 11, weather permitting, the Maine Department of Transportation said. Work will be done between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., restricting traffic to one lane of alternating travel. Occasional full closures lasting up to 25 minutes can be expected between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

CPM Constructors of Freeport is managing the construction. The contract is for $27.57 million.

The infrastructure project received grant funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Competitive Highway Bridge Program.
