Wasco Skylight Products Inc., a manufacturer of skylights headquartered in Wells, has opened a manufacturing facility in Reno, Nev.
The new facility will make standard and custom skylights for the commercial and residential markets, and expand the company's distribution west of the Rocky Mountains, according to a company release. The first shipment of skylights from Reno is expected by the end of the month.
The 57,000-square-foot facility leased by Wasco in Reno gives the company better access to a market that represents about 26% of construction spending nationally, according to the release. Twenty employees are expected to be hired initially.
"We predict significant sales in the first year at the Reno facility," said Jeff Frank, CEO of Wasco. "We've created a unique, energy-efficient skylight product line that's perfect for the Western region's desire for sustainable daylighting solutions in high-end residences and high-performance commercial buildings."
In 2011, Wasco moved from its prior facility in Sanford to the modern, 100,000-square-foot facility it leases in Wells.
