Waterville developer has big plans for former mills
A developer seeking to revitalize three former mill buildings in Waterville said he is in talks with a community college as a potential future tenant, but that is only one of many plans.
The Morning Sentinel reported that Paul Boghossian, owner of what is now called the Hathaway Creative Center, is already planning to build art studio spaces and a 500-person conference space in the 53,000-square-foot building on Water Street.
Boghossian told the newspaper he is discussing the possibility of building “incubator kitchens” that could be used by a community college that is potentially seeking to expand its culinary program there. He added that there is also “momentum” for getting a hotel started in the neighboring 165,000-square-foot building, formerly occupied by Marden’s.
The third building, which was formerly occupied by the Hathaway Shirt Co., has almost already reached full occupancy with tenants, Boghossian told the Morning Sentinel. He noted that MaineGeneral Health, the building’s anchor tenant, is attracting interest for potential retail developments, and that he is also seeking to attract restaurants to the space.
