The executive director of Waterville Main Street, Jennifer Olsen, is resigning at the end of the year to pursue plans to “embark on entrepreneurship.”

The Morning Sentinel reported that the downtown organization’s board of directors announced the news in a press release Tuesday.

Olsen, who was named executive director of Waterville Main Street in 2012, will be stepping down Jan. 1. June L’Heureux, office manager for the organization for more than a decade, will step in to manage the program.

Charlie Giguere, president of Waterville Main Street, said in the release that Olsen “has taken the organization through some significant transitions, and put us in a good place to move forward,” according to the Morning Sentinel.

Earlier this year, Olsen was named to Mainebiz’s NEXT List as a leader helping shape the future of Maine.
