The Rock Row mixed-use development in Wesbrook has three more tenants for its first-phase retail area that fronts Larrabee Road and Main Street, developers announced Tuesday.
Firehouse Subs, Chase Bank and Big Fin Poke are the latest additions to the 100-acre development, which opened its first phase in August with a Market Basket grocery store on Main Street.
Firehouse Subs and Big Fin Poke will be located in a 20,000 square foot retail building on Main Street that is under construction in front of the newly opened Market Basket. Both are expected to open in mid-2021. Firehouse Subs will be in 1,800 square feet of the building and Big Fin Poke in 2,200 square feet.
Chase will occupy a 3,200-square-foot free-standing branch in front of Market Basket. It's expected to open in late 2021.
The 80,000-square-foot Market Basket is the anchor for the development, which is on 100 acres and will eventually will include a retail and restaurant village, a hotel, residential and office space. It's still on track under its original timeline, said Josh Levy, Waterstone Properties cofounding principal, earlier this summer.
“Announcing nationally known Firehouse Subs and Chase with locally popular Big Fin Poke epitomizes the heart and soul of Rock Row,” Levy said Tuesday. “Anyone can build a mall with big-box retailers." Rock Row, he said, will have an "eclectic mix of local and national offerings" that will encourage people to "dwell and enjoy."
Firehouse Subs has more than 1,180 locations across the country and Canada, five of them in Maine. Big Fin Poke was started by Maine husband-and-wife team in 2016, who became huge fans of the Hawaiian dish of dressed raw fish while visiting friends from Hawaii earlier. There are three Big Fin Poke locations in Maine and Massachusetts.
Chase is the U.S. consumer and commercial banking business of JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM), with assets of $3.1 trillion and operations worldwide. Chase has more than 200 locations in Maine, 4,900 branches in 38 states and the District of Columbia, 16,000 ATMs, and offers financial services online and by phone.
Chick-fil-A is also opening at the Market Basket space, and other tenants who have signed on include the Live Nation Maine Savings Pavilion, a 122-room Element Hotel, a 12-screen Cinemark Theater, Starbucks, a brew and food hall run by Colicchio Consulting and other retail, dining, entertainment and office tenants.
Rock Row is the second-largest retail and mixed-use development in New England, according to Waterstone.
