Woman pleads guilty to housing authority theft

A former employee of Portland Housing Authority pleaded guilty yesterday to stealing more than $10,000 from the organization in 2010. Chandra Snowdon of West Bath pleaded guilty in Cumberland County Unified Criminal Court to one count of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, according to the Portland Press Herald.

While working at the authority, Snowdon conducted 31 fraudulent transactions totaling $10,500. A second charge of theft was dismissed.

She has not been sentenced, but she plans to make full restitution, her lawyer told the paper. The judge indicated he will not accept a plea deal that does not include jail time.
