Wright Express Corp. in South Portland has $10,000 to give away to a small business that could use some extra cash. While that criteria rules out just about no one in this economy, the company is seeking businesses that own between four and 30 company-affiliated vehicles.
As part of its "Ten Grand to Grow" contest, Wright Express is asking applicants to fill out a questionnaire about their business and how they would use the money to grow their company, from buying back equipment to paying off debt, says President and CEO Michael Dubyak. The contest allows Wright Express, a payment processer and data manager for commercial and government vehicle fleets, to give back to small businesses, while giving the company an opportunity to publicize its services, he says. "It's kind of a promotion with a thank you."
Maine and New Hampshire-based businesses are eligible. The deadline for entries is noon on Wednesday, Sept. 9, and the grand prize winner will be announced on Sept. 17. A runner up will win a Wright Express WEXSmart GPS unit with a year of free service. For more information, visit www.10grandtogrow.com.
