Car thefts are on the rise in Portland this year, going up from two reports of stolen vehicles in the first half of July 2022 to 14 during the same period this year, according to the Portland Police Department. Year-to-date numbers show 66 thefts in 2023, compared to 46 in 2022. This does not account for the additional risk of theft of property from cars.
