For many people, commuting to work is part of the daily hassle. The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston recently conducted a study called "Getting to Work in New England: Commuting patterns across the region." 

For most New England communities, a huge share of resident workers are employed in other cities and towns, the Fed said. A substantial number of commuters flow between cities and towns — as opposed to the traditional hub-and-spoke model, where employees commuted from the suburbs into a city.
