Greater Portland Health is a federally qualified health center with multiple health centers, including one Healthcare for the Homeless program, two public housing sites, five school-based health centers, and 11 mobile preventative dental hygiene services in all Portland public schools serving over 12,500 patients from pediatric to geriatric.
Our services include medical, behavioral health, oral health, substance use treatment, chronic and infectious disease management, and psychiatric services.
We are committed to ensuring all members of our community have access to health services regardless of their ability to pay. Greater Portland Health offers a sliding fee scale program and we accept Medicaid, Medicare and commercial insurances.
Our vision is a healthy community in which everyone has access to integrated, culturally inclusive, affordable and high-quality healthcare services promoting physical and emotional wellness.
Staff and private funders have contributed over the years to our patient “Sunshine Fund.” These funds allow our staff to assist patients with purchasing prescriptions, over the counter medications, and basic necessities such as socks or a meal. The need for assistance has continued to grow over the years and our fund is in need of replenishment. Ultimately, your donation to Greater Portland Health supports the well-being of our entire community. Your donation can be made online at www.greaterportlandhealth.org/donate.
Sunshine Fund: Greater Portland Health maintains a Sunshine Fund to be used for purchasing medications and other health-related items that are not covered by insurance. These funds are essential for many people who do not have insurance or cannot afford their medications. Donations to our Sunshine Fund are welcome and can be made online at www.greaterportlandhealth.org/donate.
Direct Mail Appeal: Visit www.greaterportlandhealth.org/contact to be added to our email list to receive updates about our annual direct mail appeal.
Amazon Smile: When you shop at smile.amazon.org and select Portland Community Health Center (our legal name) as your charity of choice, a percentage of your Amazon purchases will be donated to Greater Portland Health.
Due to COVID-19, we are not currently taking volunteers. In regular times, those interested in volunteering may find more information at www.greaterportlandhealth.org/volunteer.
