Interstate Electrical Services is the largest electrical services merit shop serving greater New England. The company, founded in 1966, currently has more than 900 employees. Headquartered in Massachusetts with offices in all six New England states, Interstate provides electrical construction, design/build engineering, extensive prefabrication, and electrical services including 24/7 emergency service to commercial customers of all sizes. Interstate is a company that believes every employee has the potential for greatness and works hard to nurture individual talents and reward outstanding performance.
Markets/customers: Interstate has a strong presence across all six New England states. We have successfully delivered projects in virtually every major commercial sector — life science, healthcare, schools and universities, industrial, manufacturing, distribution, multi-unit housing, corporate offices, retail complexes, and more.
Career/job opportunities: Interstate is always looking for licensed electricians, apprentices, assemblers, and other positions to join the team.
Company Benefits: Interstate offers medical and dental coverage, HSA, employee life insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, and a 401K with company match.
Internship program: Interstate offers internship, co-op, and electrical apprenticeship programs. Graduates of the Assembler Apprentice Program earn a state-recognized Assembler Certificate.
Community engagement: Interstate proudly partners with local youth organizations including the Boys and Girls Club. In addition to corporate contributions to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, the Interstate Team rallies together to donate to causes such as Toys for Tots.
Sustainability: The nature of Interstate’s prefabrication focus inherently means we reduce waste. There is less physical waste on the jobsite because we are delivering only the components and supplies needed, that are packed efficiently. With reduced packaging and transportation, Interstate is considerably able to reduce our environmental footprint.

I decided to pursue my electrical license to achieve a motivating and challenging career that offers a great deal of job satisfaction. Working as part of Interstate’s team here in Maine has helped me to improve my critical thinking and troubleshooting skills, and is providing me with a solid education in the practical aspects of the electrical trade. I am very happy I made the decision to work in the electrical trade and work for Interstate.
