2022 Goals

Maine Cancer Foundation (MCF) is here for whatever tomorrow may hold. We are always looking for new ways to reduce the impact of cancer for every Mainer in all 16 counties.

1 in 3 Mainers will face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. In response to this challenging statistic, MCF remains committed in 2022 to reducing the burden of cancer through grant-based financial support and coalition building. Feedback from cancer stakeholders across the state as well as evaluation of MCF’s own efforts has led us to focus our grantmaking on the following three pillars:

  • Cancer Prevention: The best way to beat cancer is to prevent it from occurring. MCF supports statewide prevention efforts, focusing on reducing smoking, promoting healthy lifestyles, and providing access to healthcare that includes cancer prevention.
  • Early Detection and Screening: Finding cancer early, when it’s most treatable and beatable, saves lives. MCF supports programs that improve and increase early detection and screening efforts.
  • Improve Patient Outcomes: Every Mainer deserves access to the best possible care, regardless of their income level or where they live. MCF supports programs to improve cancer patient support, provide patient navigation, and ensure access to transportation to vital cancer care.

In addition, MCF serves as the backbone organization for Maine’s Impact Cancer Network (MICN), Maine’s statewide cancer coalition. MCF contributes funding, staffing, and administrative support to keep Maine’s cancer community connected and working together to achieve meaningful goals. Recently, MICN partnered with the Maine CDC to develop the 2021-2025 Maine Cancer Plan which will provide a roadmap for all Mainers who want to reduce the harmful of effects of cancer in our state.

Committed to a healthier tomorrow, MCF is 100% Maine.
