During the past year, the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on our daily lives has been center stage. But we’re beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Maine’s high rate of vaccination has meant that more and more businesses are getting closer to full capacity. Thousands of new jobs are opening up each month and workers are in high demand. The Department of Labor (DOL) can help you find a job that interests you and help you get the skills you need to be successful.
Maybe you do not know what your next step is, whether it be training, school, or a career – that’s okay! DOL and the Maine CareerCenters across the state are here to help. All services are available virtually, and one-on-one visits can be scheduled.
The industries profiled in this magazine are strong, and there are many opportunities. Please read more about them on the following pages — it may help you get a better idea of a field that you are interested in. There are thousands of job openings in these and other industries listed on the Maine JobLink. There are also over 5,000 internships posted. CareerCenter consultants can help you practice for an interview, perfect your resume, or connect with training, workshops, and other opportunities to help you reach your career goals.
Please visit the CareerCenter website, www.mainecareercenter.gov. There are lots of resources available online, and you can chat with one of our staff. You can also call (207) 623-7981 or email MaineDOL.CareerCenter@maine.gov for more information on workshops, job fairs, and other opportunities you may be interested in. We can’t wait to work with you!
Sincerely,
— Laura Fortman, Commissioner of the Maine Department of Labor
