In 2020 MSSPA will continue to move forward its vision of a world without equine abuse or neglect.
In the upcoming year, the Society will continue raising its visibility with community leaders at the local, state, and national level to discuss relevant topics, such as animal welfare public policy, enforcement of existing laws, and equitable outcomes for all stakeholders, including the animals.
2020 will be a year when individuals and groups will be invited to partner with the Society and increase overall support for Maine’s abused horses. Peer-to-peer, and all forms of giving, will be cultivated to help broaden the base and strengthen the foundation of the organizational mission. In addition, humane education programming offered through field trips, kids’ camps, and birthday parties will help expand the Society’s family of donors. The growth of the volunteer program continues to expand the organization’s footprint and impact.
Use of the indoor training arena, completed in 2019, will facilitate an increased number of rehabilitated horses being adopted into families throughout the country.
100% of individual donations directly supports the horses. MSSPA does not receive any federal, state, or local funding.
Volunteers support our life-saving work in the barns, in the office, and at special events. Individual and group volunteering opportunities are available. In addition to the many daily barn chores that our volunteers support, we have a need for volunteers with skills as varied as grounds maintenance, carpentry, and database management. Love horses and people? Become a volunteer tour guide or sign up for the ‘party posse’ to get involved in MSSPA’s successful birthday party program. Your organization can also get involved by bringing a group to volunteer at the shelter or by hosting a fundraising drive.
Call the office at (207) 892-3040 or email info@msspa.org for more information about giving, fundraising, and volunteer opportunities.
