As an organization, our primary goal for over 40 years has been to provide healthy food in a dignified manner to anyone in need. In the coming year, we will provide over 1.1 million meals through freshly prepared lunches in our Soup Kitchen and free groceries in our on-site Food Pantry and Satellite Pantries based in schools and other community spaces. We are also undertaking a comprehensive program evaluation process, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative data, to understand our impact and inform any future programmatic changes.
The agency is currently in the second year of a two-year strategic plan designed to successfully usher the agency through its first Executive Leadership transition in more than a decade. The plan aims to ensure the agency’s continued success through ensuring strong leadership, financial sustainability, recruitment and retention of skilled staff and board members, and intentional partnership building.
MCHPP hosts two signature events annually to raise funds that support our programming. Plates of Plenty is a benefit auction, containing both in-person live and virtual silent components, which takes place each June. Opportunities to participate include corporate sponsorship, auction item donations and event attendance.
Our second event, Harvest Week, occurs each fall and contains a variety of events catered to differing audiences but all celebrating the bounty and feeling of accomplishment the end of harvest season traditionally brought. Events include free kids’ activities at the local library, a Harvest Dinner fundraiser, cooking demos and more, all culminating in our Harvest Craft and Food Fair.
MCHPP’s programs depend upon the incredible generosity of our community members to operate. Individual donors have long been the cornerstone of the agency’s fundraising efforts, contributing over $1.3 million last year. Gifts to the annual fund are critical to our continued success and are always welcomed. Contact our Development Office with questions or to donate.
MCHPP launched a corporate sponsorship program in 2022 which has been met with enthusiasm from members of the local business community like VividCloud, Eaton Peabody, Delta Dental and Northeast Bank. Since its launch, nearly 20 businesses have joined MCHPP as annual or event sponsors. Dozens of other businesses support the agency annually through food drives, fund collections, community events, special promotions and more. Visit mchpp.org/corporate-sponsorship for additional information.
Each volunteer’s generous donation of time and skill supports MCHPP’s efforts to improve food security for our neighbors in need. Nearly 750 people contribute to this critical work through volunteerism annually. We welcome new volunteers year-round and have roles to suit almost any skillset or schedule. Interested? Visit mchpp.org/volunteer.
Volunteer groups also play an important role in fulfilling the agency’s mission. Last year, more than 20 groups from area businesses spent time volunteering in our programs. Drummond Woodsum prepared Soup Kitchen lunches, Portside Real Estate Group sorted Food Bank donations, Darling’s Auto Group processed fresh produce, and Martin’s Point Health Care folded thousands of multilingual Food Pantry info sheets, just to name a few!
