Every Sebago Technics Employee-Owner benefits from the ESOP. They benefit from the culture of ownership that is founded on the ESOP. They benefit from the retirement wealth that it affords to employees, providing comfort and security. They benefit from the sharing of profits beyond their ESOP accounts, higher wages, better benefits and support of individual growth. They benefit from transparency and engagement that affords better decision-making and productivity. And importantly, they benefit from the commitment and consistency of ownership that is focused on the long-term success of the company.
At Sebago Technics, we prioritize clear and consistent communication with our employee-owners about our ESOP. From the start, new hires are educated about the ESOP during onboarding, setting the foundation for ownership culture. Companywide quarterly meetings, led by our President/CEO, offer full transparency as we openly share financials and company performance. We also host regular ESOP 101 Lunch & Learn sessions, fireside chats with our CFO, and encourage participation in the New England Chapter ESOP Association, National ESOP Association, and Maine ESOPs Conferences. Each year, employees receive personalized ESOP balance statements, and when they reach 100% vesting, we celebrate their milestone with an annual vesting ceremony, where they receive a special vest to honor their achievement. We also participate in ESOP Month (October) where we organize numerous fun and educational events across our offices, geared towards celebrating employee-ownership pride and the benefits of the ESOP.
Our culture is rooted in collaboration, creativity, and a shared sense of ownership. We believe in being proactive and prepared, taking initiative, and leading every project as a partner with our clients. Our team thrives on working through challenges to discover the best solutions. We take pride in our work and embrace every detail with confidence, celebrating our successes along the way. Above all, we believe in having fun while doing what we love, fostering a vibrant and supportive environment where everyone can thrive.
“Being part of an ESOP to me is more than just the value of shares in an organization I work for. I find the value of the work that I do daily and the relationships I have with my fellow employee-owners is greater within an employee-owned company than in a traditional organization. We all share a common goal of providing high-quality work to our clients, performing tasks efficiently, and working in a friendly atmosphere. You can sense the passion that everyone has for the ESOP and that alone is a great reason to be part of one!” — Matt Orr, PE, Project Engineer.
Sebago Technics was honored to be named one of the “Best Places to Work in Maine” for 2024, a recognition we’ve received in previous years as well. In addition, we’ve earned numerous awards for our design and engineering excellence, business achievements, and ESOP leadership.
