Southworth International Group is the global parent company of several leading manufacturers of ergonomic equipment designed to make work faster, safer, and easier in manufacturing, assembly, warehousing, and other facilities. Our roots in Maine date back to 1890 and our global headquarters remains here. We also operate four additional US offices as well as facilities in Asia and in Europe.

To ensure continued success we take care to make sure that careers at Southworth are financially, intellectually, emotionally and socially rewarding. We offer competitive salaries and profit sharing. Other benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance as well as a health and wellness program. We also offer a 401K with company match and tuition reimbursement for qualifying continuing education programs.
Engineering interns are routinely employed. Other internship opportunities are also available.
Community outreach is an important part of the Southworth culture. We organize volunteer efforts at facilities for homeless and underserved residents, we help to maintain the Presumpscot River Trail through Portland Trails, and our Sharing Sleigh delivers gifts and meals to families during the holiday season.
Initiatives include:
Transportation: Remote work opportunities reduce traffic, emissions, and fuel consumption. An electric vehicle charging station is available at our office.
Recycling: We recycle all toner/ink cartridges, lightbulbs, electronics, and batteries and encourage employees to bring similar items from home to be recycled with our materials.
Energy Conservation: LED lighting with motion sensors to turn off lights in unoccupied areas. Programmable thermostats and low water consumption fixtures are used throughout our facilities.

Southworth hires for the long term. You start small and build a foundation. Eventually, I was moved into projects to build skills and take more responsibility. I had the opportunity to be a team leader, with 5-6 people on a team. As a team leader, you coordinate projects, answer to higher ups and get it done. Now I’m the one managing. The opportunities at Southworth are endless. It’s really a place for someone who has initiative.
