Giving Opportunities

Volunteers of America serves the most vulnerable populations – one that is growing in size and need. We are seeking donations to increase a fund that is allocated for use in the rapid deployment of new startup program needs – opportunities to serve clients comes up all the time, the funding to get these operations off the ground sometimes takes time. This fund allowsw us to help more people. Funding, food and in-kind camping donations provide kids in Maine the opportunity to experience a summer camp adventure. We also accept funding and food donations to all of our housing to help residents with food insecurity issues.

Volunteer Opportunities

Business and individual volunteers are vital contributors to our programs.

  • VOA’s affordable senior houses provide opportunities for volunteers to: improve the grounds around facilities (landscaping, painting, cleaning); help at community meals (cooking, serving, cleaning, spending time with residents); provide training/classes (computer, exercise, gardening); provide music and activities, including visual presentations.
  • Volunteers help residents of our Community Justice program, including volunteers with Restorative Justice.
  • Volunteers/supporters provide vital supplies/goods/food/celebrations/camaraderie to residents in our Veterans Services programs. Two motorcycle rides provide funds to veterans. Cabin in the Woods – permanent housing for veterans – welcomes volunteers.
  • Camp POSTCARD, Volunteers of America Northern New England’s free summer camp relies on volunteers. Over 175 people help children enjoy a summer camp adventure with law enforcement
