Woodfords Family Services

2022 Goals

Woodfords’ vision for individuals with special needs is that they may:

  • maximize their potential;
  • be productive and appreciated contributors to their neighborhoods and community;
  • have positive and enriching relationships;
  • live lives that are safe and secure; and,
  • lead lives allowing for choice.

The agency will continue to be responsive to our consumers’ changing needs through the pandemic. Examples of our efforts include relationship support groups, a technology lending program to access agency programs, mask compliance to increase safe access to community activities, and the expansion of our Family Emergency Fund.

The agency will also continue to expand critical educational, clinical, family support and training programs, advocating for more adequate mental and behavioral health service capacity throughout the state.

Fundraising Events / Opportunities

Woodfords’ annual Auction Gala is the agency’s largest fundraising event. The event is typically held in September and attended by 300 area business leaders, consumer families and elected officials. During the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the Auction Gala was hosted online. The gathered event features more than 275 auction items in both silent and live events. Cocktails, dinner and a Wall of Wine raffle are also part of the program. Sponsorships, auction item donations, and bidding on items during the auction are ways that businesses and donors can get involved. If you are interested in serving on the Auction Committee, email development@woodfords.org.

The Superhero 5K is typically held the first Saturday in June at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester. During the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the 5K was hosted virtually. More than 275 people in superhero costumes complete the run. Businesses and donors can sponsor the event, register a team to participate or make a donation in support of a runner. Sponsor a company team to compete against a rival department, branch or business. Registration opens January 1. If you are interested in serving on the Superhero 5K Committee along with Old Port Batman and Batgirl, email development@woodfords.org.

Businesses also host their own fundraising events for the agency. These include retail sales events, office jeans days, dining promotions, holiday drives, and more. If you are interested in hosting a fundraiser for Woodfords, email development@woodfords.org.

Giving Opportunities

Become an annual corporate sponsor to support agency operations. Let the agency know if your company would be willing to accept a request or proposal for partnership. Host a collection drive for critical supplies, including toiletries, diapers, craft items, and more. Purchase items of need from our Amazon Wish List. Support one of our Facebook Fundraisers.

Does your business or employer have tickets or passes to sporting events, cultural institutions or amusement parks? Consider donating a block of tickets to individuals who otherwise may not be able to attend. Your donation would be appreciated by our families or residential consumers.

Volunteer Opportunities

Typically Woodfords engages volunteers in hands-on projects—seasonal garden and playground projects; maintenance or improvement projects; or assisting at consumer events for children such as our Halloween Party. The agency is always seeking out opportunities to connect with civic groups, professional associations, community organizations and churches. Volunteers can help make introductions to these organizations. Put an event together and donate the funds to the agency or, join in an event like the Red Knight’s annual motorcycle ride by coordinating a group to participate.
