MM&A to become Central Maine and Quebec Railway
The winning bidders for the assets of the bankrupt Montreal, Maine & Atlantic Railway plan to rename the company the Central Maine and Quebec Railway.
The Bangor Daily News reported a consultant with the railroad confirmed the naming plans of Railroad Acquisition Holdings, an affiliate of the New York-based Fortress Investment Group. The railroad line was previously the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad before filing for bankruptcy in 2002.
The paper reported Fortress officials expect the sale of the railroad to close by the end of March.
