Out of a field of 166 nominations this year, the Institute for Family-Owned Business has named 24 companies as finalists for the 22nd annual Maine Family Business Awards, the organization said Tuesday.

All family-owned businesses in Maine were eligible for consideration during the application process, the IFOB said. This year’s application pool included businesses in diverse industries from across the state, according to the release. The pool was narrowed to 40 semifinalists and then to the finalists by a panel of independent judges.
The Institute for Family-Owned Business is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting family-owned businesses, which represent about 80% of all businesses in Maine.
