Significant professional accomplishment: By the time I was 25, I had earned a position as Hancock Lumber’s marketing and communications director. By age 30, I received national industry honors for my contributions. Being able to represent the Hancock Lumber brand and tell the seventh-generation, family-owned business’s story is something I’m passionate about and proud of — the culture we’ve created is unique and meaningful. An authentic steward of our company’s nearly 175-year-old brand and reputation, I love to help build our brand for future generations and communicate our values to employees, customers, communities and beyond.
Passion project: Coaching my two sons’ sports teams over the years — from basketball to baseball to soccer. Knowing how influential my own coaches have been in my life, it’s been special to be able to have an impact in their lives in a different role, as “Coach,” along with all their friends and teammates.
Audacious goal: Learn how to fly and get my pilot’s license.
Favorite quote:
There is a voice inside of you
That whispers all day long,
‘I feel this is right for me,
I know that this is wrong.’
No teacher, preacher, parent, friend
Or wise man can decide
What’s right for you — just listen to
The voice that speaks inside.
— Shel Silverstein
Influential book: “The Seventh Power: One CEO’s Journey into the Business of Shared Leadership,” by Kevin Hancock (for real, though!)
Favorite movies/TV shows: “The Departed,” “Forrest Gump,” “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” “The Lion King,” “Entourage”
How do you recharge: Getting outside — running, skiing, boating; watching the sunset; and family time, vacationing and traveling are my favorites!
