$7M coming to ME for weatherization

Six community agencies in Maine are receiving a total of $7 million in federal funds for weatherization projects.

The money from the U.S. Department of Energy will fund programs to install solar hot water systems, hot water heat pumps, make other heating upgrades and replace appliances with energy-efficient models, according to a press release from U.S. Rep Mike Michaud's office. The six agencies receiving funds are: Aroostook County Action Program, Presque Isle; Community Concepts Inc., South Paris; Kennebec Valley Community Action Program, Waterville; Penquis Community Action Program, Bangor; Waldo Community Action Partners, Belfast; and Western Maine Community Action, East Wilton.

In total, the DOE doled out nearly $120 million in federal stimulus funds to as many organizations nationwide.
