The retirement community Cumberland Crossing by OceanView has moved into its second phase of development, which will add 52 homes to the town of Cumberland.
The retirement community, on Tuttle Road in Cumberland, broke ground in 2018 to build its first phase, which included 53 homes. The second phase of construction will begin when 10 units are presold. So far, four of those units have been reserved.
Cumberland Crossing is a Maine-owned and managed family business started by developer John Wasileski, who also developed OceanView at Falmouth.
Cumberland Crossing, which is across Tuttle Road from Cumberland Town Hall, the community features two-bedroom cottages with amenities like four-season sunrooms, gas fireplaces, solar electricity, and full-service generators. Residents also enjoy priority access to amenities and services at nearby OceanView at Falmouth, its sister community.
Cumberland Crossing said it is using local builders and subcontractors including True North Builders, Storey Brothers and Mancini Electric, among others.
All of the units in the first phase have been sold, with roughly half of the cottages already occupied and the others under construction.
Phase two will be completed with three neighborhoods that will connect the project from Tuttle Road to Greely Road. The community center at Northwind Farm is located at 228 Greely Road, with staff offices, residents gathering spaces and a heated, saltwater pool.
“As we move into the next stage of our construction, we’re continuing to see a growing need for housing in the Greater Portland region. With the ability to work or learn from home, Cumberland Crossing provides a great stress-free option,” said Gloria Walker, marketing and sales director for Cumberland Crossing by OceanView.
Residents at Cumberland Crossing have access to an onsite wellness office with a registered nurse. They also receive priority access to Falmouth House Assisted Living or Legacy Memory Care, if needed.
