Martin’s Point Health Care is adding to its Portland waterside campus on Veranda Street a 100,000-square-foot corporate office building.

The new two-story facility is designed to provide a variety of flexible spaces for employees engaged in both team-based and individual work, and includes collaboration areas and huddle spaces along with traditional desk options.

The goal is to support onsite and hybrid workers in an expanded and innovative office environment. Lounges, a café and conference rooms will be included.

"The investment in our Veranda Street campus and new administrative facility is designed to meet the needs of the evolving workforce, both now and in the future," said Steve Amendo, chief marketing officer for Martin's Point. "Currently, we have multiple administrative offices in different locations, and this move will consolidate them onto a single campus focused on attracting and retaining top-tier talent in a central location."

Martin's Point is non-profit health care provider with five locations for outpatient care in Maine and a sixth in Portsmouth, N.H. The company has just over 1,000 employees. It also offers Medicare Advantage plans in Maine and New Hampshire, though patients who visit the outpatient centers do not need to be signed up for a Martin's Point plan.

The new facility in Portland is being built by PC Construction, which is headquartered in South Burlington, Vt., and also has a Portland operation. PC has completed eight other projects for Martin’s Point, most recently at its Brunswick health care center.

“As many employers consider how to leverage the flexibility of technology and the innovation that comes from in-person collaboration, flexible facilities like this offer a great solution," said Matt Cooke, president and CEO of PC Construction.

Design for the Martin's Point site is by Portland-based SMRT Architects and Engineers. Engineering-related site work is being handled by Sebago Technics, of South Portland.

The new building is replacing two older buildings at the site, which are currently being demolished. The project is targeted for completion in early 2027.
