Auburn-based marketing agency the Brand Collective has adopted a new brand of its own.
The 7-year-old, seven-person firm is now Warp + Weft, and is launching a new logo, website and social media presence to call attention to the new name. Even the agency’s office at 162 Main Street has been redesigned in keeping with the new look, owner and Director of Strategy Jennie Malloy said in a news release Tuesday.
The firm has worked with clients such as Androscoggin Home Healthcare, the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and the Public Theatre. As tribute to the area’s textile industry, the name refers to the two components of weaving that turn thread or yarn into fabric.
“Lewiston-Auburn has a rich history of makers and craftsmen — of textile workers and weavers, who spent their lives in the mills where we now work. We are inspired by them and aspire to model our own work after their integrity and dedication to quality,” Malloy said.
The name change comes less than a year after another group of Maine marketing professionals also took on a new identity. The Ad Club of Maine rechristened itself last August as Maine Ad + Design.
Rather than a traditional “&” (an ampersand) both new names incorporate a trendy “plus” sign — as does the name of Portland branding firm Pulp + Wire.
“We advise our clients to take a serious look at their company’s visual and verbal brand every five to 10 years to make sure the brand is aligned with the current outlook and offerings,” said Malloy. “The time was right for us to take our own advice.”
