There’s a growing traffic and parking problem at Acadia National Park and park officials are looking at possible ways to alleviate visitor’s headaches, including requiring vehicle reservations during peak hours at some of the most popular stops.
Park officials told the Portland Press Herald that these possible changes are draft proposals and that implementing any changes would take time if they are instituted. Park officials are also reaching out for public comments through Nov. 30 on the changes.
“What is out there now is not the (final) plan,” John Kelly, spokesman for Acadia National Park, told the Press Herald. “They are just ideas on paper that people can react to.”
The preliminary proposals are outlined in a park service newsletter available for download online.
