Women Presidents' Organization, an international advisory group for women entrepreneurs, is launching a chapter in Portland.
Local chapters are coordinated by professional facilitators and meet monthly to share business tips and experience in a confidential setting, the organization said.
The Portland chapter will hold its first meeting at 5 p.m. on Dec. 2 at the offices of Verrill Dana on the ninth floor of One Portland Square and will be co-hosted by KeyBank.
"Women-owned and women-led businesses represent a growing sector of both our local and the global economy," Chapter Chair Juliet T. Browne, a partner at Verrill Dana, said in a statement. "This new chapter will help a group of women entrepreneurs build their businesses in an ever-changing economic context."
Browne highlighted the fact that the Portland area was recently recognized by Fast Company as one of the top 10 metro areas for female entrepreneurship.
The Portland chapter said it’s recruiting women business leaders for membership. For more information, contact Bari Ray, membership coordinator, at bari@womenpresidentsorg.com.
Membership requires an ownership interest in the company and annual revenue of at least $2 million, or $1 million for service-based companies.
