After 22 years under the ownership of founders Julie and Phil Michaud, the Portland Boat Show has been acquired by Portland Yacht Services. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The annual winter gathering of boaters and marine industry professionals showcases the latest vessels, equipment and services.
Portland Yacht Services is a full-service boatyard located at 100 West Commercial St. in Portland. The company, owned by Joanna and Phineas Sprague Jr. and staffed by more than 60 employees, provides marine repair, maintenance and storage services. (Portland Yacht Services used to run the Maine Boatbuilders Show.)
"This acquisition aligns with our mission to support and enhance the boating community in New England," said Jason Curtis, vice president of operations for Portland Yacht Services. "Our team is eager to build upon the show’s rich tradition and introduce new elements that reflect the evolving needs of boaters."
Portland Yacht Services plans to expand the boat show's exhibitor offerings, enhance educational programs and introduce interactive experiences around marine technology, sustainability and boating safety.
The 2026 edition of the Portland Boat Show is scheduled to take place from Feb. 25 to March 1 at the Portland Sports Complex, located at 512 Warren Ave.
