The Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce honored eight local businesses and individuals for their contributions, at its annual awards ceremony April 17.
Brewer-based Compotech Inc. was recognized for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Dan Tremble was lauded for his community service with the honorary Norbert X. Dowd award.
Frank’s Bake Shop, located at 199 State St. in Bangor, received the Large Business of the Year award, while the Small Business of the Year title went to Henry’s Bridal Boutique, which is located in Bangor’s Penobscot Plaza on Washington Street.
The Nonprofit of the Year award honored Community Health and Counseling Services, located at 42 Cedar St. in Bangor, and Annette Dodd received the Spirit of the Region Arts and Culture award.
The Sarah Dubay Community Service award was presented to Tammy Higgins, and Liz Russell was recognized as Volunteer of the Year.
The event was held at the Cross Insurance Center and drew a crowd of 700.
The evening’s sponsor was Hollywood Hotel and Casino, which hosted an after party featuring performances by Bangor Symphony musicians and cast members from the Penobscot Theatre Co.
