Rob Tod, founder of Allagash Brewing Co., will be the keynote speaker for the annual New England Craft Brew Summit.

The event, which is in its fifth year, will be all day Friday, Feb. 28, at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland. Maine Brewers’ Guild, which hosts the summit, says it is the East Coast’s largest B2B conference for the craft beer industry.

Tod, who founded Portland-based Allagash in 1995, will talk about the early days of brewing and how the company has weathered industry cycles. Today, it is Maine’s second-largest brewery, producing 95,000 barrels a year and employing 130 people, according to the most recent Mainebiz list of Maine brewers.

Tod was given the 2019 James Beard Award as an outstanding wine, spirits or beer producer.

This year’s theme of "Sustainable Growth" will explore how brewery professionals "can create long-lasting businesses after years of meteoric growth within the craft beverage industry," the trade association said.

The day will include more than 20 workshops that cover the technical, front-of-house and business aspects of running a brewery. There will be a vendor expo as well. Neil Witte, quality ambassador for the Boulder, Colo.-based Brewers Association, will talk about comprehensive quality programs and why they’re important to brewers.

Tickets range from $119 to $199. Registration can be done online.
