Another round of layoffs at Pen Bay

For the second time in two months, Pen Bay Healthcare in Rockport has laid off employees and cut a handful of positions in an effort to meet the organization's budget.

The health care organization laid off 15 workers, reduced hours for 20 more and eliminated seven vacant positions to shave $3 million from its $139 million 2010-2011 budget, according to the Herald Gazette. In addition, three employees retired and one management employee resigned, none of whom will be replaced.

Last month, Pen Bay cut 10 positions and reduced hours, saying more layoffs and wage freezes could be coming in March.
