With the steelwork in place, the mixed-use development at 383 Commercial St., on the site of the former Rufus Deering Lumber Co., is moving forward quickly. The Hobson’s Landing development will include a 155-room Aloft Hotel, 89 condos, ground-floor retail and parking for 300 cars. Reger Dasco Properties is the developer. Housing units will range from $410,000 for a 1-bedroom to $595,000 for a 2-bedroom to $850,000 for a 3-bedroom apartment, according to the Hobson’s Landing website. There are also penthouse units. Reger Dasco Properties is a Portland-based partnership between Gordon Reger, principal of Reger Holdings in West Seneca, N.Y.; Demetri Dasco, principal of Atlas Investment Group in Boston; and Joseph Dasco, principal of Boulder Hill Development in Monson, Mass. Archetype Architects is listed as designer of Hobson’s Landing. Consigli Construction is the contractor.
On the hotel portion of Hobson’s Landing, the developer is Lebanon, N.H.-based Norwich Partners LLC, which also opened the AC Hotel across the street from the new WEX Inc. headquarters on Portland’s East End. Aloft and AC Hotel are both Marriott brands. Opechee Construction Corp. is the hotel’s construction manager.
Opechee, which is based in Belmont, N.H., has an extensive hospitality portfolio. It built a Courtyard by Marriott, across the street from the above project, and a Courtyard in Bangor. It built Hampton Inns in Bar Harbor, Bath and downtown Portland. Also in Bangor, it built the TownePlace Suites. Its multifamily experience includes Sunnybrook Village in Brunswick.
Cianbro, Maine’s largest construction company, is installing glass at 100 Fore St., which will be office space with an adjacent parking garage. Elsewhere in Portland, the firm is managing construction of a hotel for developer Jim Brady. In the realm of government contracts, Pittsfield-based Cianbro received a $157.9 million contract to modernize one of three dry docks at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery.
PM Construction of Saco is underway as the construction manager for the Latitude at Clark’s Pond project. The 256-unit, four building apartment complex in South Portland includes a shared conference room and fitness center in each building. Design was a collaboration with Archetype Architects of Portland.
AlliedCook Construction is making headway on site work at the future headquarters of Covetrus Inc. (Nasdaq: CVET) on Portland’s East End.
Landry/French Construction is finishing the new Wells Public Works site and is also into work on the Scarborough Public Works building. In addition, L/F is managing a new hotel project for Colby College in downtown Waterville.
Consigli Construction is doing site work at 58 Fore St. in Portland, a mixed-use development that will include a West Elm Hotel.
