With the steelwork in place, the mixed-use development at 383 Commercial St., on the site of the former Rufus Deering Lumber Co., is moving forward quickly. The Hobson’s Landing development will include a 155-room Aloft Hotel, 89 condos, ground-floor retail and parking for 300 cars. Reger Dasco Properties is the developer. Housing units will range from $410,000 for a 1-bedroom to $595,000 for a 2-bedroom to $850,000 for a 3-bedroom apartment, according to the Hobson’s Landing website. There are also penthouse units. Reger Dasco Properties is a Portland-based partnership between Gordon Reger, principal of Reger Holdings in West Seneca, N.Y.; Demetri Dasco, principal of Atlas Investment Group in Boston; and Joseph Dasco, principal of Boulder Hill Development in Monson, Mass. Archetype Architects is listed as designer of Hobson’s Landing. Consigli Construction is the contractor.

On the hotel portion of Hobson’s Landing, the developer is Lebanon, N.H.-based Norwich Partners LLC, which also opened the AC Hotel across the street from the new WEX Inc. headquarters on Portland’s East End. Aloft and AC Hotel are both Marriott brands. Opechee Construction Corp. is the hotel’s construction manager.

Opechee, which is based in Belmont, N.H., has an extensive hospitality portfolio. It built a Courtyard by Marriott, across the street from the above project, and a Courtyard in Bangor. It built Hampton Inns in Bar Harbor, Bath and downtown Portland. Also in Bangor, it built the TownePlace Suites. Its multifamily experience includes Sunnybrook Village in Brunswick.

Cianbro has a range of projects going

Elsewhere in Portland, the firm is managing construction of a hotel for developer Jim Brady. In the realm of government contracts, Pittsfield-based Cianbro received a $157.9 million contract to modernize one of three dry docks at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery.
