Atlantica Group plans trade mission to Israel

A Portland-based international consulting firm today said it is organizing what it believes to be the first joint U.S.-Canada trade mission to Israel.

Atlantica Group LLC is coordinating with Canada's Trade Commissioner Service and the U.S. Department of Commerce to launch the trade mission to Israel in mid-December. The cross-border collaboration will offer companies opportunities to visit Israeli business incubators and universities, as well as schedule matchmaking meetings. "Interest in Israel's technology scene is very strong, but the less populous states and provinces in the region are unlikely to undertake a mission to Israel individually," said Perry Newman, president of Atlantica Group. "By working together and creating a cross-border mission, we create opportunities for participants to develop multilateral business opportunities with each other, and with Israeli partners."

The mission will focus on opportunities in biotechnology, medical equipment, information technology, defense and homeland security, renewable energy and private equity and venture capital investment.
