Harriman, an Auburn-based architecture, engineering and design firm, has named a new CEO and a new COO to replace President and CEO Clif Greim, who is retiring June 1.
Mark Lee, who joined Harriman in 1996, will serve as CEO, and Jim Fortin, who has been with the firm for nearly 15 years, will become COO, according to a news release Thursday.
In their new roles, Lee will drive Harriman’s strategy, vision and business development, while Fortin will be responsible for internal organization, client service and project delivery. They each will also continue work in their respective design studios at the firm.
“By creating distinct areas of focus, this dynamic new leadership team will enable Harriman to respond more effectively to evolving client needs,” the firm said in the release.
Lee, a structural engineer and architect, has helped Harriman develop new centers of expertise, focusing attention on sustainability, the release said. He holds bachelor’s degrees in architectural engineering and civil engineering from Drexel University and a master’s in architecture from Boston Architectural College.
Fortin, a licensed professional engineer who is certified by the Structural Engineering Certification Board, currently leads Harriman’s structural and civil engineering studio. His expertise encompasses major new construction and renovation projects in the medical, educational, commercial, industrial, housing and retail markets.
“I am thrilled to see Mark and Jim take the helm at Harriman,” Greim said in the release. “They are respected leaders in the architectural and engineering professions who exemplify Harriman’s dedication to creating value for our clients. Their depth of experience and passion for design excellence will strengthen our practice across our offices.”
Founded in 1870, Harriman is the fifth-oldest design firm in the country. The firm provides land planning, architecture and engineering services from offices in Auburn and Portland; Portsmouth, N.H.; and Boston.
