The president and CEO of KICTeam Inc. has stepped down, effective immediately, the Auburn manufacturer’s board of directors announced in a Tuesday email.
The board said in the message, dated May 26, that Peter Klein has resigned after 12 years “to pursue other interests.” Klein will retain a financial stake in the company, the board added. The board has named Ian McCormick, a strategic consultant with a sales and marketing background, as interim CEO.
“As an innovator, Peter has brought a unique perspective to KICTeam and been able to foster a team of dedicated professionals in helping the company grow. His creativity and forward thinking approach will certainly be missed,” Marc Fontaine, the board’s chairman, said in a prepared statement. “We thank Peter for his tireless efforts that have led to tremendous growth over the past 11 years. While he leaves the company in a solid position, we look to the future and the potential a new leader will bring.”
KICTeam, a maker of cleaning cards for industrial equipment with more than $10 million in annual revenue, has been featured in two Mainebiz features over the past 12 months. In May, Klein told Mainebiz about how KICTeam has managed foreign exchange risk as the company increases its international presence. A year ago, KICTeam was profiled as a Maine company that racks up millions of dollars in sales with little-known, everyday products.
"We're one of the few companies that can claim our product is used in every country in the world," Klein said at the time. "We make everything in Maine for the world, but our revenues inside Maine are very small. The company isn't known in the L/A area."
