Baker Newman Noyes, one of the nation’s top 125 accounting and consulting firms, said Monday that Eleanor Baker, the firm's managing principal, will retire in 2016. Principal Carl Chatto, a CPA and director of audit, was elected successor and will take over as managing principal, effective Jan. 1, 2016.
Baker and Chatto will work together over the next few months to ensure a smooth transition, according to a statement.
Baker will be finishing out her career in June 2016 after 39 years in tax and personal financial planning.
Chatto is based at the firm’s headquarters in Portland, which provides audit and advisory services to public and non-public clients. This past year, Chatto was instrumental in the merger with Shatswell MacLeod & Company’s external audit and tax practices.
Jeffrey Wheeler, CPA, audit principal in the firm’s Manchester office, will succeed Chatto as director of audit, effective Jan. 1, 2016.
Earlier this year, Baker Newman Noyes continued its expansion into Massachusetts after completing its merger with the external audit and tax practices of Boston-based Shatswell, MacLeod & Co.
