The Bangor-based family entertainment business The Maine Jump has closed its Bangor location and party rental operation in Hermon and is auctioning 34 inflatable bounce houses and other equipment to pay back its creditors.
The auction through Keenan Auctions opened yesterday and runs through Jan. 6. Steve Keenan, the company’s personal property auction manager, told Mainebiz the public auction has no minimums or reserves, meaning the items for sale will go to the highest bidder. Keenan said it’s also possible that a bidder may make an offer on the entirety of the company’s equipment in hopes of reopening the facility.
The auction also includes kitchen equipment and other appliances the company used at its Bangor location.
Ryan Hatch, owner of The Maine Jump, did not return a request for comment by press time. A search of federal court records indicated Hatch’s company, Hatch Family Enterprises LLC, had not filed for bankruptcy and Keenan said he did not think the company had filed for bankruptcy.
The TV station WABI reported that the company’s location in the Presque Isle mall would remain open. In an interview this summer with Mainebiz, Hatch said the company was in negotiations to open franchises in Vermont, New York and Texas.
