Mission Critical Delivery Solutions Inc., a Bangor-based logistics company that specializes in transporting medications from long-term care pharmacies to patients, has been acquired by a New Jersey company.
SDS Rx announced its purchase of Mission Critical in a news release Wednesday but did not disclose the terms.
SDS, which is backed by HCI Equity Partners, focuses on moving pharmaceuticals from post-acute care pharmacies to patients, as well as transporting radiopharmaceuticals.
The deal will allow SDS Rx, headquartered in Clark, N.J., to expand service to existing customers in new geographies and add extra routes in some areas, the company said.
Mission Critical was founded in 2013 by Ted Johanson, who began his career in specialized delivery 30 years earlier by driving as a medical courier while attending college in Florida.
"We are excited to welcome the Mission Critical team to the SDS Rx family," said Drew Kronick, CEO of SDS Rx. "Mission Critical has a strong history of success and will substantially increase our presence in the long-term care pharmacy market."
HCI managing partner Doug McCormick added, "With the acquisition of Mission Critical, SDS Rx is now the leading pure play logistics provider to the long-term care pharmacy industry. HCI looks forward to supporting the SDS Rx team with additional capital as it continues to seek strategic growth opportunities in healthcare logistics and expand its vital services to more healthcare industry customers."
Jones Day served as legal counsel to SDS Rx.
HCI Equity Partners, based in Washington, D.C., is a private equity firm focused on partnering with family- and founder-owned distribution, manufacturing and service companies.
