Directors of the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce are expected to meet later this week to discuss the terms of the dismissal of Candy Guerette, its longtime president, who was let go in late June for poor performance.
Guerette, who served the organization for 13 years, was dismissed June 26 by the chamber's executive committee with an offer of three months' severance, according to the Bangor Daily News. An attorney for Guerette countered with conditions that included payment of accrued vacation and sick pay, eight months' severance and written assurance that John Diamond, board chair, would not be a candidate as her successor.
Diamond sent a letter to chamber members announcing Guerette's ouster, but did not expound on the charge of poor performance leading to the dismissal. Some members petitioned the chamber for a special meeting July 10 to discuss the executive committee's decision to remove Guerette and to consider appointing an outside committee to investigate the matter.
