Bangor committee OKs $73M arena project

A Bangor committee yesterday unanimously agreed on a $73 million arena and civic center project that would be the largest construction project in the city's history.
The 15 recommendations approved by the city's arena implementation committee include building a 5,400-7,400-seat arena next to the auditorium and civic center, removing the auditorium and building a conference center, and renovating the civic center as new meeting space, according to the Bangor Daily News. The city has been working to devise a plan for its aging auditorium for nearly a decade.
The city council will likely discuss the recommendations later this month or in January and take action, according to the paper.
